Well, the Bible and I presume other scriptures of other religions were not accurate and impartial history texts. I mean that a battle described in Kings or Chronicles a few hundred years after it was fought is bound to have some inaccuracies and a slant toward the Israelite or Judean view.
They are of historical value in that they give us some idea of what the people believed about themselves, their gods and their world. How they worshiped. How their religion was or should have been carried out in daily life and relationships with friends, family, their leaders, their enemies, and with strangers. Their ethical codes.
When studying the ancient Egyptians, Greek, Romans, historians read their religious texts as well as their political decrees. Same with modern Europeans and other cultures and nations.

Yes. You cannot separate any work of art or literature from the time and place where it was created. In the case of religious scriptures, the words are often a direct testament of what the author believed the world should be like. And from that we can infer what the author's time was really like.

Of course, whether or not they are in fact accurate depictions of the events they claim to narrate.
You really don't have a clue about how professional historians actually work, do you?
