When is it best to enlist?
I'm thinking about enlisting in the military. When I'm older I want to be a doctor and I was wondering if it is smarter to enlist after high school and recieve the 12 years of education coverage or if it's smarter to get a degree in premed, enter as an officer and then go to med school when I'm out.
I understand that either way I have to serve my country. I'm just trying to plan when it's best to join (it's a big decision!)

You will only get 36 months' of tuition from the GI Bill if you enlist first.
The best option to have you pay the least tuition possible while getting your MD as fast as possible is go to college with ROTC. Apply to med schools like any regular student and at the same time apply to the HPSP (http://www.goarmy.com/amedd/education/hpsp.html) to pay for your med school. If the military pays for your med school, they'll pick your specialty, which would most like be GP. This option will get you all the way through med school, but the more school the military pays for, the longer a service obligation you owe them (your service would start during your internship).
