Is my 8mm film ruined?

I bought a Kodak 8 movie camera at an antique store today. I opened the film compartment and to my surprise found a whole roll of barely used film! I quickly closed the container, hoping I hadnt ruined it. I opened it in the car and didn't take the lid completely off, it was for about 4 seconds. Did I overexpose it completely or is it still usable? :/

sorry, 8mm film has to be loaded and unloaded from the camera in complete darkness. old timers used a changing bag to do this easier in the field.

if it makes you feel better, there was a good chance that the film was Kodachrome which can no longer be developed, so it is not a loss.

The film was exposed to light. It is most likely ruined. Bummer.
