replacing silver fillings?
I have started to go to a new dentist. He looked at my mouth the other day and told me all my silver filling needed to come out. I wasn't very happy about this, made the first appt for this procedure and left. I have done some research and I'm still on the fence with this one. What are your thoughts on this subject?

Silver (amalgam) fillings have a general life expectancy of about 10 years.
So if all your amalgam fillings are this old then you may want to consider getting them all replaced.
If not, looks like this DDS may be crossing the line of malpractice.
I suggest you get a second opinion before you do anything.
btw... I had all my amalgam fillings replaced with porcelain but that was a personal choice.

If they are structurally sound and not decayed, you should immediately report him to the state board of dentistry. A dentist telling patients to replace amalgam fillings when they do not have a need to is malpractice.

Why do they need to come out? You need to know this before you can make a decision. If there is no good reason, then it would seem like an unnecessary procedure.
