What exactly is nothing?

Do we really have a definition for nothing besides total non existence, but is that really nothing? Meh Im probably digging myself into a paradox here, but how can we know that something cannot come from nothing when we arent entirely sure what nothing is?

The word 'nothing' is an ATTEMPT to communicate 'non existence', it is not the non-existence, nothing is just a word. just like the word 'apple', its not a fruit, the word dog is not an animal.

It's a very old(100yrs old) abstract word and computers doesn't even use that word because it can be twist. and yes there is no 'non existence' or there is no 'everything'

Humans have a wide range of sensitivity and through the help of technology it extends our sensitivity, thus we cannot detect, sense, observe we call 'nothing' (at that time).

Ex: before the microscope, doctors doesn't have an idea that there's microorganisms.

The statement "Something comes from nothing" is a metaphysical statement because its like saying "We have this effect(something) and the cause is bula-bula,nothing,x,God,will etc(It means "we don't know").

Well, we don't say that something comes from nothing. This is a common misconception of science's view of the 'beginning', which in terms of the 'big bang' is just about how our universe came about. Not what may lie beyond it.

If it turned out that matter and energy have always existed, I would be comfortable enough believing that. I think it's likely that there is no end to it. That our universe is as tiny as one atom in a table of an entirely bigger world. That our sense of scale is silly. That if we had a good enough microscope, we could see infinitely smaller and smaller, just infinitely. It never ends in any direction. Other theories are that it 'folds in on itself'. That is, if you flew for a bazillion years, you would come right back again from the other direction. And there isn't stuff outside of that. Which is also very difficult to imagine.

Nothing is the absence of everything but there's always something so nothing doesn't actually exist.

Great question. Physicists are beginning to realize we don't have a clue what nothing is..or is not.

“Nothing is unstable, Given a chance, nature will make nothingness boil with activity. ” Frank Wilczek, a physicist and Nobel laureate from MIT,

With the finding of the higgs particle and thoughts on dark matter, I'm beginning to think that there is no such thing as nothing. That even what we think of as nothing, is actually something. What that something is, I can't say.

Nothing does not exist, therefore, it isn't there. There is always something. If there is nothing, then there is no physical or possible way for us to observe or comprehend it.

as it is written, nothing is impossible. if we exist that means there was always something that we were created from.

are there double meanings to these verses

    Matt. 17: 20

20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

    Luke 1: 37

37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

nothing is impossible and everything is possible by faith

    1) we do come from something, GOD

    2) if nothing is something then nothing doesnt exist because it is no longer nothing (the absence of everything)

    3) nothing doesnt exist because there is ALWAYS something
