How can the Old Testament not count?

So what? God changed his mind? Also, if it wasnt relative then why is it still their and how can it not apply? Anyway if we did get rid of the OT we'd get rid of the Ten commandments and the story of creation (Which are both supposed to count) Also, like I said before if it doesnt count now then why would God want it to be written in the Bible. Another thing Id like to add is if you get rid of the Old Testament all of your prophecies are basically gone along with a large amount of other things. So is it basically just a lot of cherry picking?

Update:

Where does it say that everything in the Old Testament only applied to Israel?

Update 2:

^ Straw man...Where does it say that the laws only applied to israel?

Mr. Reg points out the New testament and Old testament warring against each other is a Christian concept but inappropriate and meaningless from God's viewpoint . Testament means a contract nothing more . The deliverance of the Jews from the grip of the Egyptians reveals the start of God's plan for bringing concepts of Eternal salvation to all the world . The strange thinking of some Christians must be that the Jewish people were drawn into a religion established by God whose ultimate Destiny was to fail for the Jews yet- on that foundation would be established a uh , effective religion; whose Destiny was success for all who simply converted to it , and accepted Christ's vicarious sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary . Errors in that prejudicial thinking call for too much discussion here . Mr. Reg would like to point out that the contract value both in the Old and New Testament is fulfilled in a contract fulfillment by the same God . There is no other . In other words the appearance of the Lion of the tribe of Judah the root of David is in fact the contract keeping God relative to both Old and New testaments . He is Melchizedek-without Father without Mother without descent . The Melchizedek Priesthood administers ; in the fulfillment of contract with the power of an endless life . In saying there is no other , Divine Beings are not precluded by His existence , the difference is created beings can become Divine Beings , Melchizedek is the Savior of such people , but no one can move to immortal , Eternal life is just as good but Melchizedek is the only immortal being .

The Old Testament does count. Every bit of it. It is only people who dismiss much of it that think otherwise.

If you actually were to read the books of the OT, you would find that God made multiple covenants with different people over the ages. And that the covenant he made with one group did not apply to any of the others.

A classic example that everyone knows is the Noahic Covenant. While it shares many principles with the Jewish covenant (including have 7 laws instead of 10), the requirement that Noah was to build a giant ark did not apply to any of the other covenants that God made.

Some with other covenants that God made, such as his covenant with Enoch or with Job. Both of whom were non-Jews and had different covenants with different laws and different requirements.

With the coming of Jesus, God made yet another covenant. This one with all the Gentiles (non-Jews). While it shares some principles with the Jewish covenant, it is a separate covenant,

Just as contracts between a single supplier and his different customers may share many things in common, each is a separate contract. They will have different clauses, may have different prices, different requirements, etc. The contract with "Company A" does not apply to "Company B".

As for why the OT was written in the Bible, you need only read it. Within its pages are laid out prophecies intended to show who Jesus was, why he was coming, what he would accomplish, etc. It lays the groundwork for the Christian covenant, Within it, we would have no reason to believe that Jesus was who he claimed to be. But when you have hundreds of prophecies about him, they are prove that Jesus is the Savior of the world.

We do not "discount" the OT. Rather we are smart enough to understand it the way the Bible says it is to be understood.

the previous testomony truthfully counts. there are greater pre jesus previous testaments than the different e book in the international. the undeniable fact that he did come and somewhat some prophecy's did come real is what provides the recent testomony validity. the difficulty is that there are alot of church homes that are attempting to alter the bible and the church that grow to be accepted in the previous testomony. the different motives are that there is enormous money in church homes and with a view to get which you will ought to "bend" some regulations with a view to get some butts in the seats. there are plenty greater scriptures that homosexuality is incorrect than purely leviticus the christian faith grow to be hijacked in the time of the roman empire. they tried to kill the faith with the aid of burning beating and killing christians and their toddlers to get them to disclaim that they observed jesus alive lower back and that they observed him ascend into heaven. while they observed that the skill that grow to be there they made up a church that still worshiped idols (saints) and made face of God look like the present God of the time (zeus). this way they might get all human beings on board and that they might wield the skill. they had to bend a splash and the church had to grant some extreme spots to three nobles that's the place the catastrophe and custom of boy love got here from. now that they possessed the skill of a militia of human beings no longer afraid to die they only went out on a challenge to take over the international. alot of the reason that the church did no longer enable everybody understand what the bible even mentioned with a view to no longer enable everybody understand that they had completely contradicted the procedures and teachings of God. it grow to be ordinary to try this as a results of fact it is occurring now. human beings have an theory of what they think of God must be and if it would not adventure them they only don't think it. as though whether or no longer they think it makes it real?

"Where does it say that everything in the Old Testament only applied to Israel?"

Nowhere in the New Testament does it say that. But it does say that Gentile Christians are not bound to observe the Mosaic law in the Old Testament. And it says that in Acts 15, amongst other places.

You make many valid points. The Hebrew Scriptures are extremely valuable. Jesus himself only had the hebrew Scriptures when he was on earth and used them to reason with people. In fact one of his most common statements was "it is written". Here is an example, when he was being tempted by the Devil at Luke 4:4 it says. But Jesus replied to him: “It is written, ‘Man must not live by bread alone.’” Thus the Bible supports your view of the importance of the Hebrew Scriptures. Adam & Eve were told to not partake of the tree of the knowledge of good & evil. The knowledge of good and evil is the law. By going against God's will, he was forced to introduce the Mosaic Law because we (Adam & Eve) asked for it. Jesus (God) came to set us free from a law we could not keep (break one law, one time and you have broken the whole law) by a sinless man taking on the sins of the whole world. Therefor those who are not saved by Jesus' sacrifice are the only ones under the OT law.

Where did you get the idea that the OT doesn't count? If you are referring to some of the laws God gave the Israelites, recall that these laws only applied to the Jewish people in order to set them apart. Further, Israel broke the covenant they had with God, so God was free to create a new covenant, one which, as the major prophets predicted, would, unlike the old covenant, never be abrogated.

the old testament leads us to Jesus and onced that has happened then the old law has done it's work in that person and that person is made alive together with Chris alive spiritualy, this is what salvation is all about being made alive spiritualy. we are all born into this world dead in our sins (romand 5:12) seperated from the life of God.
