Bank of America and Fannie Mae Address Change?
I am at a loss as to what to do next. Currently my mortgage is at Bank of America, and I decided in FEBRUARY to refinance. I wanted out of BofA, and started a refi with a buddy who works at Wells Fargo. I was told by him that there was a problem that my mortgage info didn't include the Unit # of my Site Condo, and that I needed to contact BofA to get it updated with their records and Fannie Mae (it's a Harp loan).
So it took 6 weeks and a number of phone calls to get BofA to add "Unit 116" to their records, but Fannie Mae still hasn't updated theirs. As far as I know, BofA has dropped the ball in reporting the address change to Fannie, but dozens of phone calls to their customer service number, and now the Office of the President has gotten me nowhere. The reps at the Office of the President NEVER call me back.
All I'm trying to do is get "Unit 116" added to the legal address at Fannie Mae! I've also contact Fannie and was told that the mortgage lender was the one who had to contact them to update the address. I told Fannie that BofA with either incapable or unwilling to do this, and was essentially told that that's how the process goes. I asked what am I supposed to do if they won't do it, and received no answer.
I have even file a complaint with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, but I'm at a loss as where to go next. Is it time to get a lawyer?
**As I mentioned above, I called Fannie Mae and they will not deal directly with the borrower. They told me to go back to the lender.

Sometimes you need to think outside of the box. If BofA changed their records, ask them to fax/send you a copy of the changed form, and then forward the document to Fannie Mae yourself so their records can be updated.
