No, you don't refund a month and a half after the sale was completed, what a cheek. Refunds are for when the buyer receives it, like that same day, and discovers it was not as described or the wrong item. Thats when as a seller you offer a refund if the problem is legit. If its been more than 45 days since the auction end, he can't raise a dispute either. If its still within time, he can. You can reply to the dispute and state that the item was as described ie as is, and a buyer can't, after a month and a half of owning the item, change their mind about the purchase and expect the seller to accept the goods back and give a refund. He could have done more damage to the item for all you know. PayPal /eBay, in this event, should agree with you, the seller. So, email him back and explain that you don't offer a refund a month and a half after the event and the item was described correctly in the listing, there is no "change of mind" refund offered, sorry!

I had an issue just like this. I sold a broken Ipod Touch on Ebay as broken/ for parts. The buyer got the Ipod, replaced his broken screen with my perfect screen, sent it back and demanded a refund. I took it up with Ebay and after about a month of appealing and disputing against the buyer I ended up keeping the money from the buyer and got to keep my broken Ipod. So no. I wouldn't issue a refund if what the buyer is claiming to be a new problem was actully stated in the description. So as what the buyer is complaining is wrong is in the description then I wouldn't worry at all. They'll probably open a case against you but don't worry it'll be resolved without any damage done to your ego on Ebay as long as you're in the right.

Has he already given you feedback? If so, I would not refund him if I had described the item properly. Paypal may still refund , who knows. The long time period, brings up other questions too.

You don't have to refund him. You sold the item as is. That is what he paid for.
