Do you think it's ok for a Dr. to not tell his patient that she was carrying twins on purpose.?

Ok so it's a crazy sad story but a male coworker of my mom had a gf who was pregnant. She was huge and when she finally gave birth through c section the couple found out that it was twins. The messed up part is all the staff and Drs who saw her through her pregnancy knew it and didn't tell her. The really sad part about is the other twin was born without a head and that's why they never told them. It was a fully developed baby just missing it's head and was taking all the nutrients from the other baby so the surviving one was really small. The couple wanted to have the Dr fired or sued for it but i'm not sure if they will be able to do either. I just think it was an awful thing to do to this young couple especially since the mother had to carry these babies for all those months.

Now this is where I get scared shitless. We all live in this really small town that has one Ob office that does prenatal care and I'm pregnant. I know this Dr and saw him for my previous pregnancy and despised him so much I went to a different hospital I wasnt registered at so he wouldn't deliver my baby. I was kind of hoping he got fired or retired since that incident but when I called them he was still working there but they also brought in a new Dr. I highly doubt that I will have twins but my father is a triplet, my aunt has twins, and my cousin has twins.

My biggest fear at this point is they will not tell me if something is wrong with my unborn baby.

Maybe I'm worrying too much I don't know. Am I overdoing it or should I switch my prenatal care office because that's what I told the the receptionist I was going to do.

Please be kind with your responses. People on yahoo like to be rude or mean when it's unnecessary

Update:

Actually I'm not a troll nor have I ever trolled on here you dumbshit. Hate to start with the names but Scars mama you started it. So take your *** somewhere else. I know this couple personally and so does my mother. They would not have told us and their family the situation for the **** of it. Nor would they have had a huge conference with Drs and lawyers for fun. Why the hell would I troll on such a horrible subject. Unless your a mothafucken Dr and can give me some evidence it's not true shut the **** up.

Update 2:

Thanks KS for the info you have my vote.

As for Scars maybe It was all my hormones that made me react to you so badly. I've never been called a troll before so it really pissed me off. I apologize for that but please know what your talking about before you bother answering

Update 3:

They said without a head. Why would they say head instead of a brain. That was what was really hard for them to deal with. The Dr said head. Do you think all Drs are perfect and make the right decisions?

Update 4:
Update 5:

Your free to believe what you like of course... Just don't go assuming someone is trolling.

Thanks for the responses everyone

I don't know all the medical laws but i would say it safe to assume you can't keep medical information from a patient.

I would NOT go to this doctor and i can't believe he still has a licenses to practice.

    Switch prenatal care.

During pregnancy you should never have to wonder what are they not telling me

    -Actually it does happen-

With that many twins in your family I think you are wise to consider that you might have twins too.

The chances of you suffering the same terrible experiences as this other poor lady are small. The incidence is 0.1/10,000 - not at all a high probability.

Twin to twin transfusion where one twin gets too much blood and the other not enough only occurs with identical twins. Fraternal twins, the result of two separate eggs being fertilised, rather than one splitting into two babies, don't get this problem.

I don't blame you for wanting to get a different doctor. These days the idea of doctors keeping that kind of information from the patients is unacceptable, even if their motive was to spare the mother several months of anguish.. If you can't trust this doctor it will worry you right through your pregnancy. In the circumstances I think you should probably find another doctor for your peace of mind.

I call troll. If the baby doesn't have a head, it doesn't have a brain, therefore it's not alive and couldn't take nutrients from the other twin.

    Nice try.

EDIT: She said the baby didn't have a head, therefore no brain stem. The condition you Googled means the baby doesn't have a brain, only brain stem.

Not to mention I DOUBT that any person would lie to someone like that. Not to mention the woman had an ultrasound, she couldn't see two babies?

I'm not like a heart-less ***** or anything, I just don't believe this story. I don't believe that so many people would know about this condition/twins and not say anything. I don't believe it. If it's true I'd sue the crap out of every single person.
