Why should other countries return objects to Egypt?
Funny thing about dr Hawass wanting ancient Egyptian objects returned to Egypt. Why should this happen when first the Egyptians of today
are not the Egyptians of the past, they are just caretakers now of a found land that they call home.
Look what happened when Mubarek was overthrown, the Cairo museum looted
by at least 100 objects.
And even today sites are looted and nothing seems to be done.
So why return objects to people who can not look after what they have now?
The modern day Egyptians are muslems who were in the dessert and found egypt a vacant land so they claimed it. And if they were Egyptians then there would have been no need for the French and British to unscramble the Rosetta stone. So think before you reply and know what you are talking about thanks peace and love..
coptic christian wow to bad you can not read the question before you rant.
and your facts are wrong. the coptic religion had nothing to do with ancient pharonic egypt.
the roman christians defaced many ancient sites in egypt and chased the last of the ancient egyptian
priests out of the temples. If you knew history you would know this.

You are complaining about how ancient objects are being looted, how do you think the ancient objects are found in many countries abroad? They weren't magically transported there, they were looted in the first place and looting is wrong so they should be returned to their country of origin.
Coptic Christians are descendant of Ancient Egyptians and 10% of Egypt are Coptic Christians. Even though the Muslims are not direct descendants of Ancient Egyptians, they were affected by the culture of the Coptic Christians living in Egypt at the time. So a lot of the norms and values of the Ancient Egyptians are conformed by Muslims.
You are correct, Coptic Christianity had nothing to do with Ancient Egyptians but over time Ancient Egyptians converted to Christianity. Just like how England was once a fully Christian country and now Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism are increasing.
There were also many Coptic Christians in Egypt during the Roman invasion because the Arabs then came into Egypt and the Romans left Egypt. As we all know the Arabs made Christians either pay the Jizya or convert to Islam, that can't be done if there weren't already Christians there and that was directly after the Romans left, so there were both Ancient Egyptians and Coptic Christians (Ancient Egyptians who converted to Christianity) and if the Romans did, as you said, chase the last of the Ancient Egyptians out of the temples, there were still the Ancient Egyptians who converted to Christianity who are therefore descendants of Ancient Egyptians.
How did I not answer your question? You asked why the ancient artifacts should be returned, I answered because they were stolen in the first place. So please read the answer properly before you start ranting.
As a side note, many of the artifacts stolen during the revolution were retrieved and that occurred because the police disappeared at that time and a FEW thugs looted the museum.

Actually, modern day Egyptians are the descendants of the ancient Egyptians (for the most part).
Just like how the Obelisk of Askum was returned to Ethiopia, any antiquities belonging to Egypt should be returned in the near future once rioting and looting stops and archaeological sites are under proper supervision.
I'm not very fond of Dr. Zahi Hawass, to say the least.
Edit: Do you realize the general population of Egypt has NOT been displaced by mass migrations? Yes, the influx of Arabs, Greeks, Romans, Turks, etc. has influenced the population to an extent; yet they still retain a connection with other Northeast Africans.
"Know what you are talking about" - Fyi, have you ever seen the inhabitants of Egypt in the more rural parts, especially Southern Egypt? They look exactly like the ancients!

It doesn't matter if the modern-day Egyptians are the ones who did the Ancient Egyptian objects or not. What matters is that they were Egyptian objects made by Egyptians and made on Egyptian land. 90% of the objects stolen by the Egyptian Museum were returned thanks God.
