cannot wirelessly access internet on laptop?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L505 laptop and a Linksys wireless router. A few days ago my internet connection died while I was using my laptop. I contacted my internet provider but other than having my laptop connected directly to my modem (which is what I currently have going), they weren't much help. I tried using another router I bought but that didn't do anything and I ended up returning it. I have unplugged and replugged everything dozens of times with no success. I'm running out of ideas and am tired of having to use my laptop in one particular spot. Any suggestions?

Typically, laptops come with an external switch either on the front or side of the laptop for turning Wireless on/off. If that switch does not exist, I found the following procedure for verifying if your Wireless is turned on or off internally from Toshiba:

Referenced from the Toshiba Satellite L505 laptop - User's Manuel

***Assuming you are running Windows 7*****

    - Select Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Toshiba HWSetup

    - Click on the LAN tab to check the Wireless Communication Switch setting is "ON".

    - If the setting is OFF, please switch it to "ON".

If this doesn't work, also check the machine's Device Manager to ensure your device is not disabled:

    - Select Start, and then Right-Click "Computer" > Select Properties.

    - Select Device Manager on the left side

    - Expand Network adapters and verify that your Wireless device is listed and not showing a Yellow exclamation point or red X. If the icon shows a yellow exclamation point, then Windows sees a problem with your device. If there is a red X, then the device is disabled. Simply re-enable with a right-click and select "Enable".

Lastly, are you able to see your Router or any other wireless connections when you attempt to connect to a network? If the list of available networks is empty or if it cannot find any other connections, then it is likely to be specific to your laptop's wireless device. Otherwise, if you can see connections listed but it fails to connect, then it could be your security settings such as invalid SSID / Password / or Security type (WPA compared to WPA2).

I hope this leads you in the right direction, and good luck!

First, make sure that you're connected to the right network. In case you are, might need to verify if the IP is ready to dynamic. To do that proper click on the wi-fi Connection Icon then go to residences. Highlight TCP/IP internet Protocl IPv4 or something like that, then click on houses once more. Be certain it's set to receive IP deal with automatically and receive DNS Server tackle routinely. After environment these, restart the laptop. Laptop will have to get a valid IP, if no longer then you're in trouble :) .
