AVG 2012 locks up my internet browser! Suggestion to stop it from happening?

Every time AVG Internet Security 2012 updates, it locks up my browser. Skype would be on and I'll still get calls or messages. So far, the only temporary remedy is restarting my computer. Is there any better method to solve this when it happens or to prevent from happening?

You need to disable the auto-update.

    From the AVG program

    1. Open the AVG program.

    2. Double-click the Update Manager component.

    3. In the Update Manager Settings section you can disable (clear the Start automatic updates check box) or modify the settings of the AVG virus database update schedule.

    From Advanced settings

    1. Open the AVG program.

    2. On the Tools menu, click Advanced settings.

    3. On the left menu, expand Schedules, and then click Virus database update schedule.

Here you can disable (clear the Enable this task check box) or modify the settings of the AVG virus database update schedule.

    1. Click the little triangle/arrow next to your icons at the bottom-right.

    2. Right-click on the AVG icon and click "Open AVG User Interface."

    3. Once AVG has opened, go to the top and select Tools -> Advanced settings...

    4. At the sidebar of these settings, click on "Resident Shield."

    5. In the settings that appear to the right, uncheck "Enable Resident Shield." This will disable AVG until you re-enable the Resident Shield, so if you need AVG again, just check this box again.

    Hope I helped :)

Go into the settings and uncheck Auto-Update.
