Urgent! Dropped Guinea Pig, please help?

My 4 and a half year old guinea pig was having cuddles from my family about 10mins ago until one of them dropped him. This person held my gp out infront of him at about 3ft, then my gp started doing that wierd wriggle thing they do when the look like they're gonna twirl their bottom a full rotation, he was really fidgeting so my family member tried to put him down but he tried to jump, he looked like he was struggling so much it was frightening then at 1ft he jumped. It's mainly the fidgeting fall that's scared me!

He seems fine now, eating, energetic, walking fine, But you can never tell!!

Guinea pigs ABSOLUTELY do not like to be out is space like that they freak out every time. They need or rather must be held cuddled up next to you at all times or you will have this tupe of fall every time. Please tell your family member never to hold the guinea pig out away form them again and if they insist on doing on doing so you will need to stop them from holding yur guinea pig.

Keep an eye on him and if he is moving, eating and drinking as normal it should be okay. If there are any changes then take him to a vet right away. Guinea pigs should never be held out in front as they can jump and they would not feel safe in that position. You have to always hold them close to your body.

If he is eating and walking OK, then he should be fine. My guinea pig once jumped 3ft out of my hands at the sight of grass. He temporarily paralysed his back legs, but it was rather noticeable. if your guinea starts to drag his hind legs or starts to act unusual, then take him to your vet.

My guinea pigs squirm a lot too, and its fine if it was only a foot off the ground, my piggies have done the same thing, that was a long time ago and they are completely fine, didnt even faze them.

A jump of about one foot should be OK, but also check that he is not limping. If you are at all worried, take him to the vet, but they can jump about that height when they put their minds to it. If anything changes over the next two or three days, take him to the vet, but other than that he should be fine.

Rodents are sturdy little things - if he seems fine, he most likely is fine. If you're worried, just take him up to the vets for a quick checkup - better safe than sorry :) And if something is wrong, just remember, it wasn't anyone's fault!

    I hope he's ok!

should be fine I dropped my rabbit once before from about the same height and she was fine, just keep a close eye on them encase they start doing anything unusual and stroke them for a while to make sure they have calmed down and don't get stressed out

    hope this helps

Like with a lot of questions in pet catagory on this site, the only way to tell if he is poorly is take him to a vet, he sounds ok,but better safe than sorry ay?

If he is acting normal, he must be fine. Just feel his ribs and other bones carefully. If anything feels strange (like it's broken) or if he shows any sign of pain, get him checked out by a veterinarian.
