Does anyone else think Lil Wayne is sh*t?

I know this is not to do with religion, but religion is unimportant and so is this so it seems a perfect match.

I mean, his lyrics.. they're just rubbish. He's like a 15 year old wearing tracksuits who thinks he's so cool. It seems there is no talent in rap today, not that there ever was.

The Beat: Have you ever listened to metal? Listen to some Dying Fetus or Lamb of God and pay attention to the instruments. Then try to replicate the vocals.

Most rappers don't even play any instruments and the vocals in metal are way harder to accomplish without hurting your throat.

    I do.

There is more talent in rap and hip and hop than there ever has been in rock music.

"Have you ever listened to metal? Listen to some Dying Fetus or Lamb of God and pay attention to the instruments. Then try to replicate the vocals."

Yeah, but my penis is bigger!

Most rock music never moves beyond masturbation, which is why all that's valued is how difficult it is to play the music. Hence the existence of a band like Brain Drill.

Charlie Parker's music might be physically easier to play than some metal bands, but the thought he puts into one note outstrips the thought most rock and metal bands put into the entirety of their output.

If you want to compare skill... I noticed you didn't mention the actual lyrics, you know... the meaning of the song? Because great rappers, by definition, have to be able create an entire self-defined world of their own creation. Even the greatest of metal bands don't have to discuss anything beyond getting women, or beating someone to death.

For example, here's Nas' verse on Raekwon's "Verbal Intercourse" from "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..."

---Through the lights, cameras and action, glamour, glitters and gold,

I unfold the scroll, plant seeds to stampede the globe.

When I'm deceased, by then the beast arise like yeast,

To conquer peace, leavin' savages to roam in the streets.

Live on the run, police paying me to give in my gun.

Trick my wisdom with the system that imprisoned my son.

Smoke a gold leaf, I hold heat, nonchalantly.

I'm raunchy, the things I do is real it never haunts me.

While, funny style ****** roll in the pile,

Rooster heads profile on a bus to Riker's Isle.

Holdin' weed inside they pussy with they minds on the pretty things in life,

Props is a true thug's wife.

It's like a cycle, ****** come home, some'll go in,

Do a bullet, come back, do the same **** again.

From the womb to the tomb, presume the unpredictable,

Guns salute life, rapidly, that's the ritual.---

Here he not only opens the verse on the dangers of egoism (in some incredible imagery referencing the bible) through media limelight, he also shows his skill as a braggart, at the same time (and the contradictory nature mirrors the social commentary that comes at the end of the verse). In the middle of the verse he creates a narrative revolving around the tragic fate of a criminal life, for the criminal and their wife, commenting on the horrid effects of poverty. And at the end of the verse he cuts out of the narrative and goes straight for a deft political commentary about the cyclical nature of the earlier proposed narrative involving crime; one goes in, get out, does the same thing, goes back in.

That's skill, my friend. And I didn't even get into his incredibly complex rhyme schemes throughout the verse.

If religion is unimportant to you get off this forum. There is a forum for this kind of stuff.

I'd expand that to roughly 95% of all rappers...
