That 2nd monitor is it connected to the same videocard as the primary monitor? If not then the driver for the other videocard may have to be activated first. If the connectors are on the same videocard then take a look at the driver-settings to make sure a connector isn't disabled (don't know if that's possible) or something like that. There also could be a problem with the 2nd monitor. Try using the 2nd monitor as the primary monitor to exclude or detect problems with the 2nd monitor.

    Reference info:

The windows applet to detect monitors and set their usage can be accessed by rightclicking on the desktop and choosing "screen resolution". This should open a windows showing all detected monitors and ways to configure them. If only 1 monitor is shown try pressing the "detect" button.

Tip: when looking at the driver settings for the videocard make sure to activate the advanced view in the preferences, because some videocard configuration applets by default use a simplified view that may not display all settings. The ways to open the driversettings may vary by driver

Look on your computer and look at what you can connect though to get it to your monitor, find a match between the computer and monitor with something like HDMI or VGA which is mostly used and it should work fine.
