Laptop connects to wifi at home but not uncle's wifi?

Ive never had problems connecting to different wifis till I go to my uncle's house. Now I cannot connect to his Internet with out having to plug it in to it.

It says it can't authentic because of a time out but everything else doesn't have any problem. I've tried to many times and I'm getting tired of having to sit on the floor

Mostly you uncle is using an old router.

Plug in your uncle's router to your laptop. Type in ipconfig in cmd prompt.

Note down the default gateway. Type in that gateway as the URL in any browser. Type admin as the user name and password. Now you are in the router's page. Check out the type of protection it has and configure the password.

Then try again. If it doesn't work, maybe its just an old router.
