Why can't I sleep in the summer?

So for the past few years in a row, I've been getting really bad Insomnia, it lasts for 1-3 months. but it's always during the summer that it happens. Last week I started again not being able to sleep, I only get like 2 hours a night. but in the winter I can sleep for like 10 hours a night. Anyone have any idea why I get summer induced insomnia?

Update:

Oh also, It's not environmental, I'ts not hot where I live. Usually 60-70 degrees year round -.-

I get this too, I'll stay up for hours as I can't fall asleep and then I'm up at 10 or earlier the next day... I have a feeling it's the weather or the summer heat, humidity, air quality, pollen levels, and other summer environmental stuff. It might also be if you have air conditioning or central air then the air can get stale even after a short time.

    Other factors that prevent sleep:

    -Using electronics more often

-Kicking the sleeping habit you've had during the year (staying up late one night can do it for some people)

    -Diet and exercise

-Some times you just get random energy bursts

    -Changes in hormones

    -Stress

Source(s): Me and I've been to doctors for it that have given me few options besides popping sleeping pills (which I refuse to do).
