Would I be able to be a truck driver with recent DUI conviction?
Convicted in May 2011 but the DUI was back in 2003. Is it the conviction date that matters or the actual occurrence date?
It happened in Riverside CA during the one day that I visited there. I moved to back to TN where my family lives not knowing that a law was passed that connected all the DMVs'. So I went all those years without a license and just decided I need to get it taken care of since I have a child and I need a better job. Has not helped with job situation though...actually hurt me. That is why there is such a long time between arrest and conviction date.

depends on the state, but to be honest in the state of florida that would be a NEVER going to happen.

Why would a trucking company hire someone with a DUI conviction, when they can hire a thousand other truck drivers who can do the same job as you who DON'T have a history of drinking and driving?

The date it goes on your record is the conviction date
And you are saying it took 8 years to get this to court?
I do not believe it

Both...and not likely. Check the DOT regulations in your state for sure.
