Can anyone help me pick between two laptops?

I'm a college freshman, and need something that will last me a few years on a budget. I'm in the $4-500 price range, and I've got two laptops in mind, both with good features. I have decent tech knowledge, but I'd like a second opinion. Thanks in advance!

Update:

I should add that I will not be playing games on my laptop,that's what my PS3 is for. My laptop use will be strictly for internet/online classes and writing papers, things of that nature.

    Get neither. You want a laptop with either an AMD or Nvidia graphics card. What else are you going to do in college if not play video games?
