How can I make either my url/address bar shorter or increase the size of my bookmarks toolbar?

Using Firefox 14, I would like to know if there is a way to either decrease the size of my url/address bar or increase the size of my bookmarks bar so that I do not have any bookmarks which are compressed when Firefox is not in full screen mode. Thanks for any help!

Here is a picture of my setup so you can see what I mean. The small arrows to the right of my bookmarks indicate that there are a few more hidden: http://imgur.com/AXbeL

    I don't think you can in firefox but,

    you can in internet explorer.
