True or False one can only be a Christian if (s)he has literally studied every OTHER religion or deity and ...?

OBJECTIVELY studied their own!?

Background:

This question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201208...

Update:

See? See how idiotic that question was?

Update 2:

Duh? I am saying, myself, that this question is idiotic and am asking it as a way of pointing out how idiotic that other question was in a way, hopefully, that the original poster would understand. I doubt they will though.

Update 3:

@River: so you're saying to be a Christian all you need is to be irrational and have blind faith. At least we agree on that.

That's the one 'advantage' that religion has over rational thought.

You are allowed to be 100% certain about something, even if there is no evidence to support it (or a compelling reason to infer it).

The fact that you were conditioned to believe in it and become dependent on a support structure that propagates it never even occurs to you.

Or that the only difference between your deity and the untold thousands of other deities that people have worshipped over the centuries is that you believe in yours.

False. You both suppose in some thing like a deity or you do not. Easy peasy. Not handiest that, there are tons of atheistic religions available in the market, with Buddhism being probably the most good identified. So even supposing you /did/ research each faith, ever, ceaselessly, blah blah blah you'll stumble upon plenty of atheistic religion paths and with no trouble turn out to be with "instructed ya so" as your outcome. (or some thing identical)

No. The doctrines of Christianity do not preclude the doctrines of every other religion. We agree on many points. For example, Muslims and Hindus say that stealing is wrong. The religions can be put in general categories. The same claims are seen again and again. The minor differences don't matter.

  • Your true or false question is obviously false. It is not necessary for a person to eliminate all other options before claiming belief in one. Belief is internal, only the person themselves can choose when they believe.

False, other religions came as a bonus study, but ,definitely knowledge on one's own religion is necessary.

ROFL, that is soooooo false. But please don't use logic against them, most will never understand. Just look at the ridiculous answers they gave to the original question asked.

False ... when one meets the Lord, there is no need

to "study" counterfeits to know one has the genuine.

Do you have to study all the kinds of counterfeit money

before you trust the real cash that's in your pocket?
