What's wrong with my computer and how do I fix it?
A few weeks ago I noticed that sometimes my laptop's CPU usage would, out of nowhere, jump to 100%
At first, I thought maybe I had something big in the background running, so I opened up Task Manager, the highest thing was just Steam and so I hit ''end process'' but it didn't change anything at all.
Restarting my computer temporarily fixed it, but if I was, say, on the internet for an hour, it would just happen again. Or if I were playing a game that used to run relatively smoothly, now I can't get it to run for three minuets without it freezing up.
I deleted a newly-downloaded game, I ran a cleaner several times, I defragmented, I did whatever popped into my head that had to do with fixing or cleaning my computer. Still, nothing got better.
Finally, I asked my dad to have a look at my computer. But when I got it back, it only jumped to 100% quicker and now sometimes it'll shut off randomly. (I have no idea what he did)
I have a Dell it runs on Windows 7, it's i3, 64-bit, has 4GB,

1: call microsoft.@ there is a way where u can manage whats really running around in the backround. on ur start bar there should be a "run" option there. click on it and type in: msconfig. (no spaces.) it should pop up. now be careful here. at this point u may want someone w/ a lot of computer knowledge. cause if u tell it to stop certain things, ur computer will not run.
also if u have any internet security systems running on ur computeer, it may be the problem. for example, my computer is built for gaming and when i run bf3, my cpu runs at about 5o-65 percent. my normal running speed when zonealarm is on (a internet security program) is at 30 percent. if i run my game and zone alarm it goes straight to 100 and i get terrible lag. if u have any programs like that, shut them down and see if it works. dont shutdown ur computer cause when u boot back up it turns them back on.
