What's better Sterling Silver or White Gold Plated?
I'm looking to buy a reproduction of Galadriel's ring Nenya from Lord of the Rings. I've found two that seem nice and look almost exactly the same. The difference is that one is solid sterling silver and the other is white gold plated. The price difference is $10 with the sterling silver being $30 and the white gold plated $20. I'll probably be wearing it a lot so which one will hold up better and stay looking nice in the long run?
I think the metal under the white gold plating is brass, but it wasn't very clear.
Here are links to both rings:

Sterling looks awesome as long as you keep it properly polished. It will tarnish if you don't. What metal is the gold overlaying? If it wears away, you'll need to know what's going to be peeking out underneath. If it's a white metal, you'll probably be OK.

I love Sterling silver. I have rings I wear for years and they look nice. It won't tarnish if you wear it. I don't mind the scratches. I think platinum is ugly. It's a dull look. Platinum is strong IMO but ugly. Gold is nice, but IMO white gold is a pain. You have to rhodium plate it. I like the way white gold looks without the plating it's a soft gold color instead of pure white, if you don't use the rhodium plating. Just be a little more careful with sterling Don't do heavy cleaning while wearing and don't take in a pool.
