How to get rid of a dry cough, a sore throat and a runny nose?
PLEASE HELP! I have a dry cough that doesn't stop which causes a really bad sore throat and a runny nose as well. I have had this for 5 days so far. I have also had a fever but it has gone now. I have tired a lot of things and nothing works.

Sometimes the best remedy for these sorts of things is just rest. Antibiotics only help if you are treating an infection caused by bacteria, fungi or certain parasites. Have you tried taking an antihistamine? That would probably help with the runny nose and inflammation. If you have asthma you should definitely be taking your reliever (ventolin) every four hours. Other than that try the hot shower idea suggested by the other person. If you don't get better, than it is a good idea to take a visit to your doctor, as you might find that you need antibiotics. Hope your feeling better soon hun.

Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen reduce the swelling of inflamed tissue in your throat the same way it does for anywhere else in your body.
Take a hot shower. The steam vapors help clear your sinuses, which usually are a cause of a sore throat.
Stay well rested! Sleep can help your body get stronger and fight the cold. Sleep more.

If you eat/drink a spoonful of honey with a few sprinkles of pepper, it helps the throat. Robitussin is excellent on the cough and nose.
