Is this a good gaming PC Build?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dRpY

I plan on doing some hardcore gaming along with game commentating and livestreams with fraps.

I chose an extra sound card cause I am going to be using some really good headphones, and I heard onboard sound is good if you are using cheap 20$ headphones.

All recommendations are welcome! (better parts, cheaper parts, etc. etc.)

Update:

Changes made: dropped other set of ram, changed power supply, dropped SSD, and went 3570.

I get Potential Issues/Incompatibilities error now:

Some Intel H61 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Ivy Bridge CPUs.

Will I be fine or no?

I dont really plan on overclocking.

drop the 2nd pair of 2x4GB ram (you don't need it) and get a better power supply, e.g. the XFX Pro 550W or the Corsair TX650 (Apevia psu's are horrible).

btw, Windows 7 Home Premium can't address 16GB ram. it's only 13GB + 2GB of the graphics card + 0.x GB for device buffers and control registers.

in order to be able to address 16GB ram or more Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate is required.

as someone mentioned to change the i5-2500 for an i5-3570, actually a good idea, i have to add that for this case the H61 motherboard will not work. a not overclockable Ivy Bridge cpu needs at least a B75 or H77 motherboard.

    edit

if you don't plan on overclocking why do you get then the i5-3570K. Newegg sells the i5-3550 3.3Ghz for $210 and the i5-3570 3.4Ghz for $215 (note, both are non K versions).

if you get an Ivy Bridge processor i5-3xxx i strongly recommend also to get a B75, H77 or Z77 motherboard because they support all the new features for Ivy Bridge whilst H61, H67 and P67 mobo's don't.

how will you update the BIOS of an H61 mobo for an Ivy Bridge processor if you don't have a working cpu for it? (it's similar as a chicken egg problem).

the incompatibilities are because of the H61 mobo and the i5-3570K (DDR3 1600 memory also doesn't have the best compatibility with an H61 mobo).

    >>> drop that motherboard, it causes more problems than it helps saving some bucks <<<

I'm an Audio freak, so to make a difference, you need like $300 Sennheisers and such. btw, don't buy Beats, you can get a pair of $80 Koss DJPRO 100s that sound the same. Your soundcard should be okay though..list the specs so i can help you. And a big thing is audio bit rate, like iTunes is 256mbs pers if I am correct, maybe 512mb, but to get the best sound, keep your soundcard, buy a desk amp, get the best bit rate you can find with a decent pair of headphones, check out thatsnazzyiphoneguy on youtube, and check out the website headphonemecca.com

All depends on your budget, if you can afford an i7 then deffinetly get it! Also try to get a z77 motherboard, which should allow for better overclocking. I perfer Nvidia GPU's personally, AND most importantly i would get a bigger power supply, around 750W. this way you can expand in the future. And even if your current 520W can handle this system it won't last as long running at such a high load. Good Luck

I would definitely get a different power supply. I would recommend corsair or seasonic. Corsair GS600 would work although the GS700 is roughly $10 more I think.

Also, the power supply you have on the list is not on AMD certified power supply list. I'm not sure if you care but just FYI...

It'll play the today's games, however most of them will work sluggish on high settings. Why? Celeron will not be the gaming cpu sequence. Get an i3,i5 intel cpu, or a Phenom quad core from AMD.

  • it's fine but for your Motherboard H61 does not support Solid State Drive

so you have to buy a Z68 chipset Motherboard..

& if you are buying Z68 chipset then buy i5 2500k processor

If you want to stick with H61 Chipset Motherboard I suggest Leave The solid state drive

    and drop one 2x4gb

And get a power supply like corsair

    gs600 or cx600v2

    looks pretty good.

id change the processor from 2500 to 3570. just ivy bridge which is newer, and not much more (i think its 30 more.)

and id drop 8gb of mem, most people only need 8, 16 is good for servers and such.

and your case is only a mid tower, if you want to expand later then id get a full tower.
