I drain batteries by my own proximity, apparently. How do I preserve my phone battery at least?

I know some people who can't use much technology, because whenever they go near a computer or cell phone or GPS, the device goes haywire. (I am a part of the energy healing community, as are these friends and acquaintances.) I never had a problem with technology flipping out when I walk into the room, but I have a serious problem with my phone battery.

It isn't the phone, I know this for a fact. In a nutshell: I had this problem with one phone, and had to replace it for another reason, but I got the new one under warranty so it's the same model (Epic 4G, or Galaxy S first-gen). The new phone had the same battery issues; Sprint told me it was due to a "bad battery," and they replaced it, but that did nothing. I have several spare batteries that I've tried, and they don't fare much better. I've been known to drain 50% of the battery just by sending about 4 texts and leaving it alone for a few hours. Both of my parents have the exact same model of phone, and in the 2 years they've had theirs, they've never once had a replacement or even a glitch.

It's gotten to the point where I've deleted all but about half a dozen apps, and I don't really use the phone much at all anymore except for calls and texts, just in an effort to preserve the battery. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Do you know anything, any trick or hack or advice of any sort, that might help me preserve my phone battery? I'm just 17 and my mum won't often let me go out without a phone, for safety reasons, so giving up isn't an option. I've heard that hacking an android boosts its battery life, and I've looked into that. But I got confused and decided not to do it, lest I brick the phone. I'm still open to that option, but not without an easy method! I really don't want to risk ruining it. Also, since this is very likely a problem with me and not the phone, I don't even know if hacking will work.

Thanks so much for the help :)

Install the GSam Battery Monitor (free from the market). That will tell you what apps are using up your battery. Also use it to look at which apps are keeping the phone awake, that can kill the battery.

On some phones there is an issue that the phone won't sleep because it's trying to sync to a picassa photo album that doesn't exist. (This shows up as the gallery app is keeping the phone awake). The solution is to go into settings->accounts & sync. select the google account and then turn off sync with picassa.

The other thing to do is to give it a cycle or two where you let the battery fully charge (not to 99%, until it says charged not charging) and then run it until the phone dies.

Normally you don't want to run the battery all the way down, it's bad for it, but sometimes the phone looses track of how much charge the battery can hold. A full charge/discharge cycle helps fix that.

Other than that there are the normal things, turn off wifi and bluetooth if you don't need them, turn the screen brightness down, set the screen to switch off sooner.

My battery will final me approximately three years or extra. What I do is; cost it a million/two the day, and feature it off the opposite a million/two day. This has gave the impression to paintings good for me. You can flip off any facets that you do not ought to have such because the dial mild or some other lighting fixtures it'll have. The lighting fixtures appear to drag it down lovely rapid. Notice if there are any lighting fixtures that keep on at the same time you're speaking on it, as this may occasionally help in walking the battery down. The contacts that the mobile makes use of to cost it with will also be wiped clean most often to support it cost greater. Another factor so as to draw cost out of your battery is; in the event you allow any contacts at the mobile come into touch with any steel akin to cash, keys, or some thing that would brief around the contacts. A pencil eraser can be utilized to scrub the contacts, and so as to permit it to cost greater. Because the bars say absolutely charged, does no longer imply it's absolutely charged! It best method you're getting complete voltage. It does not degree the amperage the mobile can preserve for a interval of time. When a battery goes unhealthy, it is going to get to in which it does not preserve a cost, and can cross down speedily. Feel the mobile after it has charged for a at the same time, and the battery must believe scorching. If it isn't, then the battery for a few cause or the opposite isn't charging. I wish this has helped you. Good Luck!

A helpful tip for conserving battery power is if you have a cover to take it off for a while and see if the battery gets any better as sometimes a cover will not let your phone breath.

Also, Make sure that your phone is up to date with the latest firmware as there might be updates to help battery life.

Make sure that location services is off as that can drain battery and if u dont need email on your phone turn that off as well.

Turn off Bluetooth and wi-fi if you dont need it and adjust the brightness as that sometimes helps.

    Hope this helps :)
