  • I just went through a serious breakup and my guy friend is already hitting on me...?

For the past 1.5 yrs (since age 18) I have been dating my childhood BFF. I couldn't be with him anymore mostly due to his parents & I just broke up with him a few days ago. We still love each other & are both devastated, but I know it can't work; but he won't give up & says he will always wait for me. We agree we'll always still be best friends.

For the past couple months I've been spending time & playing guitar with a new guy friend (who is by the way 10 years older), it's obviously platonic b/c of my BF but I've gotten a crush over the past 1-2 weeks. We hung out yesterday for the 1st time after my breakup (it's only been a couple days) & he was more snuggly, gave me a wee kiss on top of my head, & his hand brushed across my boob at one point (he had his arm around me watching tv). It seemed accidental but I know guys well enough to know that kinda thing is usually intentional, especially if they don't jerk away & apologize!

Even though I'm single now this seems way too fast. My ex obviously doesn't want me dating, it's not technically his business but I care about his feelings & I don't want to move on too fast & hurt him worse. I also question why my friend would start being so flirty so soon instead of giving me time.

Is my friend just trying to hook up? I'd think so after yesterday, but we are friends and he knows/cares about me. Should I stay away to be respectful of my ex? I'm overwhelmed with confusion & a horribly heavy burden of guilt.

What do I do? Thanks :/

  • Playing Zelda Link to the Past and got stuck in Dark Palace. help please?

For reference, here is exactly where I am:

    http://www.zeldadungeon.net/Zelda03-a-link-to-the-...

Go to the 10th paragraph/picture set. I'm try to get through this northwest door going left.

Ok so I got stuck and directionless and looked up the ZeldaDungeon walkthrough online. From this I have managed to "diagnose" the problem: somewhere along the line I managed to waste a Small Key on the wrong door. Now I cannot progress past this certain locked door but have no access to any more Small Keys. I have gone to every Small Key location listed in the walkthrough so far, but every chest is already open and empty from my previous misguided (well, unguided) attempts. And all this is unfortunately recorded in my game save so I can't just die and go back and have it all set right.

Is there any way to salvage this without deleting my entire game save and starting at the beginning?? I know I'm not even halfway through, but it's a massive game and (especially being a gaming newbie) I've already invested many hours in getting to this point. I don't want to have to start over after all this. Please help me!

    Thank you!

  • Where to begin playing Legend of Zelda?

I can't wait to dive in but am overwhelmed by all the different games. I like to go in order of release or in game-universe timeline, but I'm very new to gaming and not up for anything difficult till I cut my teeth on some more basic games. Can you advise me on what order I should play all the Zelda games in?

I can play gameboy advance, gamecube and wii games, and I'll get a wii u soon. No DS though.

    Thanks so much!

  • I want to play Legend of Zelda, where do I begin?

I am a lifelong fantasy adventure geek, but very new to gaming and honestly I'm not that good.

I want to play Zelda but was overwhelmed by all the options, so I started at the beginning with the NES original on GameBoy Advance, but have found it fiendishly difficult (at least for my little rookie self) and don't think I can go on without "warming up" on some easier games.

Can you help guide me as to what order I should play them in? I like to respect storylines and/or release orders, but please remember I'm just not capable of a whole lot yet, also. I guess I'm asking where to begin and which Zelda games are easy enough for me.

I can currently play games for GameBoy Advance, GameCube and Wii, and am getting a Wii U soon-ish also. Think that covers *most* Zeldas.

    Thank you!

  • How much should I charge for knitting instruction?

I taught a knitting class in my homeschool co-op a few years ago. I really enjoyed teaching, and I'd love to get back in the game!

I'm thinking about applying at my local public library to teach an ongoing class, as well as posting classes and private lessons on Craigslist. I am only seventeen but I'm a highly experienced crafter, and I am confident that I can tackle any knitting situation that comes my way. I'm no rookie; my lessons would be worthwhile.

What should I charge for my time, in private lessons and in classes held by myself or through the public library and other venues?

    Thanks! :)

  • Should I use my iPad for reading books, or stick with Nook?

I got a Nook when they first came out, and I love it, but I don't use it much. I do use my iPad for my sheet music, etc., but I haven't started reading books on it yet because I prefer the e-ink screen.

But I'm moving now, and I have to pare down my bookshelf and switch to eBooks for much of it, so ... is it worth getting the Nook Simple Touch, the one that glows for reading in the dark? Or should I suck it up and just read on the iPad? The Nook seems cheap enough that it would be feasible, but at the same time, I don't want to get something unnecessary. I'm just not sure if it's worth the upgrade from my original Nook, which works fine but doesn't have brilliant battery life.

    What do you think?

  • Who originally sang "Absolutely (Story of a Girl)"?

    The chorus:

This is the story of a girl

Who cried a river and drowned the whole world

And while she looks so sad in photographs

I absolutely love her when she smiles

I've seen versions on YouTube by 3 Doors Down, Nine Days, and even Third Eye Blind, but I don't know who wrote the song, who originally recorded it, and whose version is a mislabelled original.

    Thanks!

  • I'm seriously depressed and only just realized it.?

I've been feeling this way gradually for a while now, but I've been denying it to myself. I think there's a part of me that thinks that it isn't okay to not be okay, you know? I'm nearly always cheerful by default, but lately it's been getting almost hysterical or maniacal, and I'm starting to realize that this may be covering up a deep depression.

I was really depressed two summers ago (for several really good reasons) and I thought I was over all that, but maybe I'm not. I feel like life is a merry-go-round and I'm in the center of it, and I'm trying to jump in, but it's whirling by so fast. All I want is a stupid ceramic horse to sit on, but I can't find a moment to leap into the rhythm of the whole thing, and it's just going on without me, and I'm just sitting in the center, watching the world go by while I passively miss people that I used to know.

I think I've been in denial, but now I'm realizing that I'm actually quite miserable. How do I get out of this funk? I can't spend a lot of time with friends - part of the problem is that my social and family lives are sort of in shambles, and I only have one friend who lives nearby, and he can't babysit me 24/7. What do I do? :(

  • I drain batteries by my own proximity, apparently. How do I preserve my phone battery at least?

I know some people who can't use much technology, because whenever they go near a computer or cell phone or GPS, the device goes haywire. (I am a part of the energy healing community, as are these friends and acquaintances.) I never had a problem with technology flipping out when I walk into the room, but I have a serious problem with my phone battery.

It isn't the phone, I know this for a fact. In a nutshell: I had this problem with one phone, and had to replace it for another reason, but I got the new one under warranty so it's the same model (Epic 4G, or Galaxy S first-gen). The new phone had the same battery issues; Sprint told me it was due to a "bad battery," and they replaced it, but that did nothing. I have several spare batteries that I've tried, and they don't fare much better. I've been known to drain 50% of the battery just by sending about 4 texts and leaving it alone for a few hours. Both of my parents have the exact same model of phone, and in the 2 years they've had theirs, they've never once had a replacement or even a glitch.

It's gotten to the point where I've deleted all but about half a dozen apps, and I don't really use the phone much at all anymore except for calls and texts, just in an effort to preserve the battery. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Do you know anything, any trick or hack or advice of any sort, that might help me preserve my phone battery? I'm just 17 and my mum won't often let me go out without a phone, for safety reasons, so giving up isn't an option. I've heard that hacking an android boosts its battery life, and I've looked into that. But I got confused and decided not to do it, lest I brick the phone. I'm still open to that option, but not without an easy method! I really don't want to risk ruining it. Also, since this is very likely a problem with me and not the phone, I don't even know if hacking will work.

Thanks so much for the help :)

  • A small spot on the arch of my foot is suddenly quite painful and irritated. Could it be infected?

Earlier today, I noticed a small irritation on the arch of my foot. I'm not sure what happened; it looks like a splinter at first glance, but there doesn't seem to be anything stuck in there.

It is red and irritated in a little circle around. At first it was slightly sensitive, but now - just hours later - it's hard to walk on, and I can't even flex my foot without feeling pain.

I do go barefoot nearly all of the time, including on my gravel driveway. And I live out on the country, so god only knows what kind of wildlife tramps through there when I'm not home, especially geese and turkey and rabbits. That's why infection is a concern for me.

Could this be infected? Do I need to open it up with tweezers and pour peroxide on it, or something? I have no clue what happened, but I don't want to let it get any more painful or serious.

    Thank you!

  • My foot hurts. How do I fix it myself?

I don't remember for sure, but a few days ago I may have gotten a cramp in the arch of my foot. Ever since then, there is on-and-off pain and soreness when I try to put weight on that foot. It isn't unbearable, but it's a bit of a bother, and I try to avoid walking when I can.

What stretches or home remedies can I use to alleviate the pain and heal the muscle?

    Thank you :)

  • Do I have an eating disorder?

I was a pretty good weight two summers ago. Then all at once, a bunch of incredibly stressful stuff happened (my dad's affair, my own toxic relationship, and my cat's death). I ended up gaining 22 pounds total. I'm 5'2".

This year I've managed to take off 10-15 of those pounds, but because of some thyroid issues and other stress, I've sort of fallen off the bandwagon ... I've only gained a couple of pounds back, but I haven't lost any weight in over a month, and I think I'm starting to develop an eating disorder.

When I'm at home, I do pretty well, and sometimes I just barely eat enough; that is the perfect amount, according to healthy standards. But when I am with friends or with my dad ... especially when my dad takes me out ... I lose track entirely. I eat what I want, and tonight was the worst. My dad took me to a Mexican restaurant and I ordered more than I could eat, not realizing how big a tostada would be. But even though I wasn't raised on this philosophy, I felt somehow obligated to clean my plate, and so I did. I'm nearly doubled over in pain right now because I ate way too much. And even as I was eating it, I was planning how I would cut back on food for the next 3-4 days to make up for this.

The basic idea is this: I feel like I have to hide that I'm trying to lose weight, so when I'm alone or at home (I live with my mom, just the two of us) I do well, but I "hide" my efforts to lose weight by pigging out around other people. I usually feel awful afterwards, physically and emotionally. I don't make myself throw up, and I don't WANT to have an eating disorder ... but I can't pretend that that hasn't crossed my mind.

Is this an eating disorder? What can I do to stop the vicious cycle? I need some help :( this isn't going to fly when I go to college to be a nutritional consultant in the fall :( someone help, please! I don't know what to do.

  • Which would suit my needs best: iPad or Macbook?

I have a Toshiba laptop, and my mom has a Macbook Pro. So, I'm stuck on a Windows machine, but I've had a taste of what Mac can do. I want to switch over to Apple.

But do I really need to go whole hog and get a Mac, or will an iPad do the trick? (If I get an iPad, I'll keep my PC for certain programs.)

    Here's what I'll need the Mac/iPad for:

-Recording music with GarageBand (I need good quality recording, like I've heard from Mac's built in mic - will I get that with iPad? I've heard there's a separate mic called iRig, does that give a better quality recording than iPad's built in mic?)

-Writing papers for my college courses, and

-writing my novel (especially during national novel writing month, aka nanowrimo)

-Surfing the web, listening to music, watching video, other standard stuff.

So what do you think? Will an iPad satisfy me, or should I save up for a Mac? Another concern is cost - I'm also trying to save for a new guitar, which should be just under $400, so if I *can* spend less on electronics, that's great.

    Thanks so much y'all :)

  • Can anyone tell me more about netbooks?

I'd like to start by saying that I'm pretty computer-literate, but I don't know many of the really technical terms in technology.

I've seen them at Best Buy and my friends who have them like them, but I want to know what they can do. Is it fast? Can it run iTunes, Finale Notepad, and Microsoft Office? How much do I have to pay to get a good one, and how long does it last before its performance level lowers?

Any information you can offer is useful. Reviews are welcome too. Thank you!
