How much should I charge for knitting instruction?
I taught a knitting class in my homeschool co-op a few years ago. I really enjoyed teaching, and I'd love to get back in the game!
I'm thinking about applying at my local public library to teach an ongoing class, as well as posting classes and private lessons on Craigslist. I am only seventeen but I'm a highly experienced crafter, and I am confident that I can tackle any knitting situation that comes my way. I'm no rookie; my lessons would be worthwhile.
What should I charge for my time, in private lessons and in classes held by myself or through the public library and other venues?
Thanks! :)

Well, the first thing you should find out is how much they will charge you for use of their facilities. I wanted to hold a volunteer meeting at our public library a few years ago, and I was floored when they told me how much they wanted me to pay.
You have to be able to recuperate your costs, e.g. cost of facilities, materials, travel, etc. It needs to be affordable for the participants. And you will have to claim the amounts, minus your expenses, on your income tax, so you will have to keep accurate records and receipts. You will also have to issue receipts to participants and keep track of their personal information, especially phone numbers in case of cancellations.
I have taken courses that range in price from $5 - 20 per person, depending on what it was and whether the materials were included in the cost of the course. There are also sometimes courses that are offered for free, so you should familiarize yourself with what is being offered elsewhere in the community and what they are charging.
Good luck

i grew to become into in a knitting class an prolonged time in the past and seems to me we paid $15 (it grew to become into no longer $15 in line with consultation yet grew to become into for the finished direction of various instructions) and the instructor expected a extensive class and only approximately ten human beings confirmed up. We have been informed to purchase our very own yarn and knitting needles and start up the undertaking we might have enjoyed. It grew to become into stated that we do only user-friendly initiatives. I chosen a sweater for myself. My purpose for attending the class grew to become into to evaluation the thank you to stitch the products jointly (like the hands onto the physique of the sweater) the instructor counseled me to purchase the two around and right now needles and the dimensions on the 1st night of sophistication. Then I used up all my spare time and had to hurry to get all of it finished earlier the superb class and then she confirmed me the thank you to stitch it alongside with the yarn and authorized it in a while. This class contained all ranges of knitting wisdom. those that have been only starters clearly weren't rapid at it and only discovered stitched and knitted only samples for themselves. Others had to evaluation to do the stitches for the fisherman knit. all of us won the comparable handouts. we've a collection right here on the city that only provides instructions of each and every kind to the generic public for a value and that cost will pay them to take the purposes, and for the room, and for the instructor's cost. the instructor gets paid in accordance to how many are in her class. at times there are people who can no longer study and desire their money decrease back so which you would be able to no longer anticipate it as a gross revenues, that is only pin money.
