I want to play Legend of Zelda, where do I begin?
I am a lifelong fantasy adventure geek, but very new to gaming and honestly I'm not that good.
I want to play Zelda but was overwhelmed by all the options, so I started at the beginning with the NES original on GameBoy Advance, but have found it fiendishly difficult (at least for my little rookie self) and don't think I can go on without "warming up" on some easier games.
Can you help guide me as to what order I should play them in? I like to respect storylines and/or release orders, but please remember I'm just not capable of a whole lot yet, also. I guess I'm asking where to begin and which Zelda games are easy enough for me.
I can currently play games for GameBoy Advance, GameCube and Wii, and am getting a Wii U soon-ish also. Think that covers *most* Zeldas.
Thank you!

If you can start anywhere try Ocarina of Time, most people consider that the best of the series so it would probably be a good introductory game. Don't let anyone fool you, the very first game was indeed fiendishly hard, most of us only got through it because of Nintendo Power publishing a walkthrough. :P
After OoT I think Windwaker might be the next friendliest game, despite many complaints about the sailing feature. I found it very fun and only had to seek help a couple of times.

I could recomend you go with Minish Cap for the GBA first for a 2D Zelda game and for a 3D Zelda Game I will recomend you Skyward Sword for the Wii.

best places to start are ocarina of time ( the template of all current zelda games )
or majora's mask ( the one that dared to be different )
windwaker would be you third ro fourth zelda gaem because quite frankly there is nothing quite like it
and despite what a lot of fans what you to believe there is no real story line in between the games they are all standalone
not even nintendo has a official storyline the storyline is what you want it to be
