what is the best product or method to remove the chalkyness from a boat's gel coat finish?
I have a 1998 Mastercraft that is in pretty good condition. It has a little chalkyness on the back end that I can't seem to remove. The color is black and I also have a cover that covers the entire swim platform. Any suggestions? Also, I keep my boat on a hoist, but over time, have developed a little "yellowing" on the bottom white gel coat. What can I use or do to remove that and freshen up the white color? Thanks!

3 ingredients:
3M marine super duty rubbing compound
3M scotchgard marine wax. This stuff is great, and even smells like mangoes!
1M elbow grease, supplied locally. A cooler full of tasty beverages helps with this, also.
The method is self evident, just be careful to get the rubbing compound / beverage ratio correct.

Fiberglass resin and or a clearcoat paint job.Clear coating is now done on all new cars to keep the paint from oxidizing.Fiberglass boats do the same thing as they age.Simply wet sand the old finish and apply 2-3 coats of sealer while in dry dock.It will bring back the glossiness of the finish and improve the fuel efficiancy(Hull is smoother).Best done by someone with bodyshop equipment-air compressor and commercial paint sprayer.Spray paint cans tend to have a blotchy finish.
