I am thirteen and a girl and I don't know if I should join gymnastics or not I really want to, but I don't want to be stuck with little kids

No way! I just finished my 8 week gymnastics class today, and it was my first time since I was 5. I am also 13, and depending on what your gym is, they most likely won't stick you with a bunch of little kids. You might be with younger kids (I was in the 8+ class for one hour once a week) for a little while during your evaluation time, but once they find a better fit for you, they will find a good class. I got placed on the Prep-Op team and will start in the fall. Prep-op is for gymnasts who have recently started gymnastics and need to learn the basics such as poises, stretches and other basic skills. Since you started at such a late age, you really shouldn't expect to get to the Olympics, but you should still have fun competing. You will probably be placed there, and I would definitely join because it is so much fun and I have a great time I love the coaches don't be afraid to try new things because you will love gymnastics, trust me! If you have any other questions, add additional details I know A LOT about gymnastics and would be happy to help. Good luck!

Don't expect to go to the Olympics, but definitely join! I have tried out swimming, basketball, tennis, dance, figure skating and gymnastics and I kept taking classes for a year and then trying something else out and I ALWAYS came back to gymnastics. In June I got put on team and I'm about your age. Honestly if you stick with you it could probably get on a competing team by spring or next summer, although I don't know what your goal is. Being older you get put with some younger kids in a class, but those kids will probably look up to you. And don't worry, it's not like you'll be put in a preschool class. Most likely you'll be put in an 8+ class, but if you advance fastly and work on skills at home then it shouldn't be too much of an issue as you won't be there long. :D When at your home, trying working on your splits and other stretches as well as strength exercises and basic skills (such as cartwheels and handstands) that you can't very easily injure yourself with.

Good luck, and have fun! In my opinion gymnastics is the best sport there is.
