Do you think the Russians will actually adopt the AN-94 as their standard issue rifle?

Tyler, the Russians use the AK-74m at the moment. That gun hasn't been in service since 1974.

In response to Tyler's question the most recent AK-74 will cost $533 and the AN-94 will cost $1090. As for the AK-101 mentioned in the details that would only cost $630.

Not sure if the pricing details are correct. I just figured out that the website I got the info from was a website about some RPG game, but i'm assuming that those prices at least seem reasonable.

The need for small arms will never go away. I don't see any reason for a Russian involvement in any major war in the near future. Well unless things get really bad with Syria or Iran (which happen to be some of their major allies in the middle east) and NATO decides to step in and Russia stops all the trying to portray themselves as being the tough guy in Eastern Europe while not actually doing anything to back up all their claims and decides to join in the fight to protect their so called allies (last time I checked it wasn't a good idea to be allied with a bunch of whack jobs), but that is unlikely.
