What (if any) differences are there between the .223 and the 5.56x45?

I heard that there wasn't any, but i don't really belive that.

Update:

Sorry for mis-tagging it. I was kind of looking for something like a hunting category but i couldn't find it.

5.56 is loaded hotter and therefore travels faster. Other than that it's the same thing. Most guns will eat both without issue although much older .223 rifles such as min-14 made 25 or so years ago it is not advisable and can cause an out of battery since 5.56 is slightly longer. Nowadays pretty much all .223 guns are made to handle 5.56.

Their is a hunting category, I'm a top contributor and #4 of the top 10 there.
