Why isn't Obama running on his record?

I thought about being more thoughtful here but gave up.

Massive debt, large fundraisers every week , awesome golf outings.

Quotes:

"Voting to raise the debt ceiling is a failure of leadership", Sen Barack Obama

" We won deal with it" , Pres Obama

90% of his ads are attack... Why, please run on accomplishments. Please.

    Perhaps he should. Lets see...

.Increased funding for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to the highest level since 1992. (increased spending on something that has almost no impact on the economy as a whole and benefits fairly few people)

Created an artist corps for public schools. (see 1)

Championed the importance of arts education. (so what?)

Promoted cultural diplomacy (so has every other president)

Established the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform (oh great. another commission on top of the other similar organizations that do basically the same thing like the SEC, FDIC, Administative Review Board, Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, etc)

Established President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability to assist in financial education for all Americans (so what?)

Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010 (which helped produce record deficits and did not aid the economy much. In fact, according to the GAO, it hurt the economy in the long run)

Managed the Troubled Asset Relief Program (he did not, his administation did. He did not pass it, the prior admin did. He did push his admin to extend its initial use from buying up toxic debt to actually bailing out banks and other companies, often at the expense of the shareholders)

Assigned a Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program Act of 2009 (because the program was so mismanaged that a lot of it vanished without any benefit to the economy as a whole)

Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act (isn't fraud already illegal?)

Played a lead role in G-20 Summit re: financial crisis (and we can see how well that is working in Greece, Spain, Italy...)

(you forgot to read the last paragraph; this action only cut salaries not compensation. The 65 people is effected were still paid millions http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/16/pay-czar-...

Created the Financial Stability Oversight Council to monitor stability of the financial system and individual firms (didn't he create something like this earlier?)

Created self-funded Office of Financial Research (OFR) to collect information from financial firms (the government already did this through the GAO, Dept Labor, Dept Interior, etc)

OFR employees must wait a year before working for certain financial firms (sort of common sense, but why count it as a separate accomplishment unless you want to pad the ole resume?)

Provided for orderly liquidation of financial companies (we already did that, it is called the bankruptcy courts)

Higher standards for securities advertising and disclosures (so what? Regs were already pretty tight under the SEC. Ever seen a stock prospectus?)

Expanded “insider loans” (is that a good thing? Sure does not sound like it)

Executive compensation must be determined by an independent committee (can you say Sarbanes-Oxley? We dealt with this last decade)

Issued compensation guidelines for bank executive salary and bonuses (see above you padder)

Financial agencies must establish Offices of Women and Minorities to promote more diverse hiring (what the EEOC go out of business? Why create a new entity to do the same thing?)

Congress pursued Goldman Sachs for securities violations (yeah, but how is that an Obama acheivement if the congress did it? And how many of the GS folks ended up in jail? Hint; zero)

Permanently extended Research and Experimentation Tax Credit for domestic investments (hey, here is a REALLY good thing! But not something that gets people excited)

G-20 summit produced a $1.1 trillion deal to combat the global financial crisis (this is the one he led that was noted up above? Padding again I see. oh and after all that money, Spain and Greece are still going under and demanding more help from France anf Germany)

Provided $12.2 billion in new funding for the Individuals with Disabilities Act though the American Recovery and investment Act (transferring money from one person to another usually does little to help the economy. And just where did this money come from?)

sorry, got tired, but I'll answer the rest another time

Obama will blame Bush for all our issues. He's going to declare Bush drove us so deeply into the ditch, that his stimulous package, just wasn't colossal sufficient to work. So he desires a much better stimulous bundle after he is re-elected. Easy and easy peazy. And lots of the equal idiots who voted for him last time will do it once more.

  • It could easily be that he and the Democrats have found it is more effective to use the Republicans own methods and tactics against them.

After all where do you think those million voters the Republicans have chased out for being "Moderates" went? What Party welcomed them with open arms and actually listened to their ideas on how to run against the Republicans?

What is he supposed to say?

I sent money to Vietnam to study gay male prostitutes.

I sent money to south america for off shore drilling projects

I spent money on turtle crossings and solar street lights,.

I spent money on new government buildings in DC even though there are more than a dozen empty ones

I partied heart in the white house

I took gifts from our enemies and returned gifts from our allies.

I used the word "I" ad nausem.

I have a record number of czars and executive orders.

    I bypassed congress numerous times

I doubled the staff of Air Force One.

I just don't think those will work.

OMG! Why would anyone brag about all the money he wasted on the arts and he has to distant himself from controlling of salaries of bankers unless he wants the fascist label to stick.

He is, but you and others obviously feel smug about parroting this talking point.

And kindly point out any political campaign that doesn't use attack ads (although Obama's are nowhere near 90% negative). The only thing unusual in this campaign is how early they started--from both sides.
