Question about rifles..?

so my neighbors house has rodents and he offered me a brand new pellet rifle if I can kill them all.. I saw the Phantom 1000fps barrel break, and I was wondering if he bought it how does it work? Is bolt you have to pull back with a lot of force or is it like a c02 gun? He just offered to buy me any rifle under 100$ to kill these chipmunks and I can keep the gun. Thanks..

    You pull down the barrel with a little force and that compresses alot of air you put the pellet in and pull up.
