Why did Usain bolt slow down at the end of the 200m final?
200 meter records:
WR: 19.19s
OR: 19.30s
He could have beaten the Olympic record easily and possibly the world record (less likely), but why did he slow down at the end like that?
I know the medal is all that matters is the end, but who wouldn't want to beat the world record?

He slowed down because he said he felt some tiny back pain and the wind wasn't the best for record any way.
Already many critics have accepted the fact that he is one of the rare greatest olympian any way and some accepted him as a Legend even b4 200m final
He delivered what he promised to do as far as I am concerned.. He is a LEGEND.
My own addition to that is this. I wish he is not lazy and dislike hard practice. If he is neither, we would have been talking about HIS records that might be unbeatable for at least 200 years instead of just decades because if he ever really run all the way, His reign would have been much longer Shame that... Never the less, he is a great champion with limited sell by date soon( 30 in the next Olympics)

I agree with you. I was actually about to ask this question lol. I was SO pissed when he slowed down because, like you said, he would have beaten the WR.
However I heard this bit of info beforehand you'll probably find interesting - Bolt HATES the 200m. Idk why. He's pretty much a 100m-only guy. Bolt is known for his crowd-pleasing antics so it was sort of a joke because he didn't try his hardest and he still won Gold (remember when he held up his finger to his mouth after the win like "shhh"). Hopefully we'll see him at his best in the 200m relay final!

Because making the win look easy is his style.
He will have a world record until someone else beats it.
He will have his gold medal forever.
Thats why gold beats a record.
@Arthur Awesome - had never thought of that. Of course!

Because at another meeting, when he breaks the WR, he will get paid $1000's to break the record, whereas he won't get paid anything at the Olympics for it.

I hate when he does that because Blake beat him at the trails because of that. You're suppose to run the full length.

He stated he felt a muscle pulling in his back so just ran to win

Ok when your running you aren't necessarily thinking about things like that and he saw he had the win anyhow so he probably just thought "it's finally over, i won!"..

It was probably his love of McDonalds food catching up with him.
