What to feed an adult bearded dragon?
I am getting an adult bearded dragon and would need to know what I can feed him. I know that adult bearded dragons eat more greens than crickets but I also hear that some plants are not good for them like lettuce which has no nutritional value and then the poisonous ones which I'm not sure about.
Please give me a list of what you can feed your dragon and also what veggies and do they need to be raw or cooked?
Thanks!
I take it that the veggies are all fed raw??

Hey! I have 2 beardies. Jade and Jerry both females and grown :) Well they need a variety of things to stay healthy. But heres what I do, I feed them pelets you get from the pet store and mix chopped carrots and lettuce ( thats not true, I fed them lettuce for years and they are just fine and happy, since there dessert lizards kettuce provides easy water for them) into it so it doesnt taste boring and they love it, and its very healthy! But make sure it's chopped really good cause they choke. Also later in the week give them some meal worms. It's great protein ! And very occasionaly give them the ends of stawberry tops :)

Here is a excellent site on what to feed, what not to feed and what is treats: http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html
It is true about lettuce, it has no nutritional value, its mostly just water, you'll want to feed any greens on that list in green. And normal lettuce can cause diarrhea. And pellets can also be fed but not just pellets. It is recommended to feed it with staple veggies and greens
It is a list followed by many owners.
Remember to dust 5x calcium and 2x multi-vitamins a week, my dusting schedule is Monday-Friday calcium and weekends vitamins.
GREAT site on everything dragon, including proper UVB,feeding ect.

Recommendation : Safest UVB for bearded dragons are Arcadia 12% in the UK and Repti-Sun 10.0 stay clear of any other UVB's some are known to cause health and eye problems. I have seen dragons on the brink of death because of wrong UVB lights, and after they get the Repti-Sun they make a whole turn around.

Large locusts are simply not nutritional enough. Crickets should be the base of his diet, even if they seem small. He could easily eat 50 crickets a day! Salad should be mostly dark leafy greens, and you can feed pinky mice on an occasion as a treat, they are very high in fat though.
