In a dingbat puzzle what does reces say?

I am not understanding this to much on how it works.

    "A short recess"

    The word "recess" is missing the last letter "s". Therefore it is a "short" recess.

    The point of a dingbat s to make a phrase or idiom from what appears to be a meaningless group of letters.

    Other examples

    agebeauty = "age before beauty"

    retaw = the word "water" spelled backwards, therefore = "backwater"
