What to serve 12 people?

I am having 6 couples over at the end of the month so we can all meet my friend's new fiance. Some of the men are BIG guys, so I don't want to skimp on food, but I also don't want to break the bank. We have a giant grill in our yard. I am NOT going to do burgers, hot dogs etc. We are all in our 40's and I would like to have a bit more variety. Ideas?

Chicken drumsticks and thighs are way cheaper than breasts. You could do those with bbq sauce on the grill. Also get a few big steaks and let people cut a piece off instead of them each getting their own. You could also serve with a big pasta dish, since pasta is pretty cheap and then you wouldn't need as much meat. Do a lasagna or pasta tossed with olive oil, garlic, parm cheese, canned clams, sun dried tomatoes.

Grill chicken, make a potato salad, corn on the cob with garlic bread. Make cake and ice cream for a dessert. Summer will be over soon might as well enjoy a good Picnic!!!!

chicken for 12 I don't think so. Take a pork loin, and butterfly 2" thick pcs. Brine for about 24 hrs before hand, that will keep it real moist. grill each of them using salt, pepper, thyme, and olive oil. saute some fresh sliced mushrooms and make a white wine sauce to top. Also take some red potatoes chop some sweet onions into the mix, parsley, butter, and olive oil. steam some broccoli to finish it off.
