Cruise control on a 1999 Ford Taurus does not engage. Any estimate on how much it would cost to fix?

I bought my Taurus used. It's had 3 owners who were very meticulous about maintenance. However, when I try to set the cruise control, the green "cruise" light blinks on for half a second, then disappears, and the cruise does not engage. Any idea how much this will cost to fix? Or is it even worth it on a car that old?

You answered it urself Jewel! Is it worth it? They dont have good resale to begin with. So only if u plan on drivin it the next 5 yrs it has left and cant live w/o, then maybe its worth it. The fact that this light comes on and off suggests its not somethin simple like a fuse so now we go straight to $100,s likely. I can find ur exact car fer $500, and probably less kms so inquire maybe, but dont spend girl!

Well it could be anything from a bad switch to a bad module or maybe even an electrical problem. Not much detail in your question. If anything find a place that can do a diagnostics for cheap and then you'll know for sure how much it will cost ask around with friends and family for a trusted repair shop, a lot of shops like to just throw parts at cars and hope it fixes the problem. But in my opinion I would not spend too much money on the fancy stuff for a 99 Taurus. As long as it gets from A to B that's all you need.
