Has anyone had a horse that shivers when wet?
It's summer here in good old England and most days in the 20's but I've noticed recently whenever it rains my boy shivers? The vet said he's just cold, put a rug on him, so now he has to be dried off and have a rain sheet on, when the temp is in the 20's?? He's rising 3, has anyone else had a horse that does this?

My horse shivers a lot... even with blankets sometimes. Imagine going
swimming or taking a shower and then walking around outside in the
20's... shivery... even when it is 30 or 35, I still shiver lol.
The rain sheet won't be a problem, but maybe you'll have to take it off
at night if he's stabled inside. Might be warmer there. Check it during
the day and see if he is sweating underneath.

Yup our warmblood does - he has such a thin coat that he gets cold really easily. It does also mean he dries very quickly too.
Don't worry about it if he has a rug - it's not as though all this rain is particularly normal :) chances are he shed out more of his coat when the weather turned hot in the hey-you-get-a-week-of-summer we just and hasn't adjusted to wet weather again.

Yes even in the summer. She is a Cleveland bay and has wintered out in her younger years. But she lost her coat early this year as most horses did and when it's wet and the temperater drops she isn't happy.
He is only young are young TB's at work shiver in the wet.

Never in the summer. But if your vet said he's just cold I wouldn't worry about it. Does the blanket do the trick? He could just be cold natured, just as some people tend to be more sensitive to cold/heat.
