Work place prejiduce.?

The company I work for doesn't have a handbook or a standard operating procedure for how to do our job. The rules constantly change one week we have to give 6 weeks notice for leave the next its 2 weeks then 1 week. Some people who get denied leave call in 4 hours before the start of shift to call out. 4 hours is our company's call out minimum. Is it legal for some people who get denied leave for child care issues etc. to get a write up and/or fired if they take the day off anyway within the call off policy. Some people who call out get writtten up and others don't.

Update:

The thing is that there is nothing in writting what so ever. Im make a generalization by saying childcare issues. My question is. Is it legal to have a personal preference on who gets written up and who doesnt for the same offenses?

And how, exactly, do you think this constitutes prejudice? I don't know many employers that will turn a blind eye to employees that flaunt the attendance policy.

Of course it is legal. It is company policy.

Are you new? There is only one reason to miss work, and it's because YOU are sick. If your kids are sick you tell them clearly "I AM SICK" never your kids, or the car broke down, or you want to meet your sister at the airport. Just play the game, it designed for abuse.
