Are people lazy, or do they really not know how to write English?

I notice more and more, people write like they are texting or talking. No where is this more evident than the teen to thirty year old crowd. No capitalization, sparse punctuation, and poor sentence structure now seem to be the 'norm.' Is this really the direction we are headed?

Don't even get me into kids asking for answers to their homework on Answers.

Update:

Wings - I can't help but notice the irony in your answering a question in 'Languages' then.

David - Whoops, an extra space. Mistakes happen, and I don't feel I'm nitpicking.

I'm 16 and it drives me crazy when people of my generation do this. It agrrevates me to no end because they're just plain lazy! Seriously, if you wanna Make texting easier then just call the person! I'm glad I'm not the only person who sees a problem with children these days. I remember when everything was so much easier. Way back in 2nd grade, if you needed to tell your friend something in class you'd write a note! C'mon guys let's start using correct grammar and punctuation. Please for the future of humanity!

Well, sir (or ma'am), you are not one to talk. If you look at the beginning of your second sentence, you will notice the phrase "no where is this more evident"--wherein you yourself make mistakes.
