can i upgrade a DDR2 ram laptop to DDR33?
I was considering purchasing a Gateway M6846 and upgrading it to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, and than using it exclusively for school. While this is not a major concern in whether i will buy it or not it would still be nice to know. The Gateway M6846 comes with 4GB of DDR2 ram, but i would like to put 4GB of DDR3 ram into it eventually, I was just wondering if that was possible. Thanks for taking the time to read this question, have a great day
are you sure... that's a little disappointing

DDR2 and DDR3 are incompatible. Different voltages and pinouts. Dont even try forcing it in. It wont fit. Upgrade to 4 or 8GB DDR2 instead.

No chance. DDR2 and DDR3 don't even have the same number of contact pads.
I don't know about Josip (who answered first) but I'm completely sure!

If you're no longer jogging out of RAM on 4GB, then it can be pointless adding more. You wouldn't see ANY efficiency expand except you are virtually using up your current quantity. The one motive to install more RAM is that if you're strolling out, interval.
