Should I continue exercising if I'm sore?
Yesterday I started Cross Country and we ran a mile, even though I think it was a little more. This morning I woke up feeling completely sore in my legs. Should I continue today or take a day off to rest my muscles? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Generally, with running, weightlifting, or any sort of strenuous exercising, soreness = good. It means that your muscle fibers are reknitting, both building muscle and significantly speeding up your metabolism for a period of about 48 hours. I would honestly recommend continuing with your practices today, since if you're serious about running cross country, you'll need to get used to running significantly more than a mile (I believe the shortest middle school races are usually around 2 miles, while the average high school cross country race is 3.1). If you're really super sore after running a mile, it just means that you're a little out of shape, and missing early days of cross country practice means you'll have trouble building up your mileage base well enough to compete in the races.
On the other hand, if you think that you've hurt yourself, or are feeling as if you have shin splints or something similar, then you should take the day off. But for just mild soreness it's not worth it to do so.

It really depends on how you feel because you have to push yourself but, if you feel so sore to the point that you can't even go up and down the stairs then take the day off. If you are just sore (not to that extreme though) then go ahead and run, you need to push yourself also, if you do this on a regular basis your body will get use to it because right now your body is not use to it.

well your only sore cause you body isn't used to being pushed that hard to work to finish the race so a day off will be good but tomorrow you will still be a little sore but some stretches would be good then you will ache a little the next day but not enough to take another day off

If you just feel a bit sore, only sore in certain areas or a "good" kinda of sore, then I say yes. You can always do a light workout (ex. elliptical, stationary bike, light jog) or target another area instead (ex. core workout.) If you're feeling really sore and feel like you're risking injury, then take a day off.

I would wait two days than confine to workout, u have to allow ur body to relax after everything it has indured, u don't want to work yourself so hard to the point were u never wanna do it again. Also working out while ur extremely sore and make u vulnerable to getting strains and hurting urself.. Hope this helps!!

Yes, take a day off and do A LOT of stretches for your legs and consume a lot of protein today.
It might make your legs a little bit bulkier but you'll run easier next time.

Rest your muscles and then start again tomorrow. You want to move around, take your dog for a walk etc. You need to keep the muscles active and it will loosen them up so they won't hurt so much.

If your new to running rest. But keep in mind it's a "good" sore. As in, you used lots of your muslce groups.
