Best tampons for beginners?

I have a box of Kotex regulars but I only tried them once and I thought they were a little big (mainly because I was scared it was going to hurt). Is there anything smaller like light or something?

I am going to Raging Waters next week and either I need to use tampons or hope that it's a day or two late. I'm not gonna take my chances so I want to know in advance which one is better?

I heard there is Playtex Pearl Lites and they're great for beginners. Is that true?

Which one did you guys use at first? Any advice would also be fine. I may be 19 but I have never used tampons and I'm scared it's going to hurt. I know you're supposed to aim towards your back/tailbone area. So anything else? D;

Update:

Edit: Sorry I meant Tampax Pearl Lites.

I heard many beginners started with those and that they were easy.

    I started with tampax pearl regulars. If I had known there were lights I would've used them instead. The applicator of the tampon seems intimidating, but it will not hurt going in, especially if it's plastic. Relax, read the instructions, and check out some instructional videos on YouTube too. I got my period when I was going to go swimming, so I used a tampon before I used a pad! Tampons are easy to use and painless. Try the tampons you have tonight or tomorrow!

    I'd use the regular kind for now. When I first started using tampons, I used Playtex Sport (regular). I still use them, and I also use the super absorbent ones.

    Make sure you don't tense up when inserting the tampon, and don't tense up when you remove the tampon. Also, it's easier to insert and remove the tampon when you squat. I usually wear a pad, just in case there is a little extra blood, but there usually never is.

    I wouldnt recommend wearing a tampon! Your body could go into TSS from wearing it too much, and TSS can lead to death.
