should mexicans be ashamed to only win one gold medal?

I imagine Mexico is very happy winning the football or soccer gold.

The country does not have a great history of Olympic champions.

In spite of the popularity of race walking there are no recent successful Mexican race walkers.

The country has many problems that preclude spending large amounts of money on sports and developing athletes to compete on the world stage.

You can take some solace in the fact that India has less success than Mexico, but it much larger.

I am British and i was delighted with how the GB team did in the Olympics, better than anyone seriously expected.

It is not all about winning though but more to do with the taking part as it is a once in a lifetime experience for some of the athletes.I think Mexico did well and you should feel proud of your countries achievements especially with winning the Football ( Soccer ) gold medal against your big rivals Brazil, it was a good game and the best team definitely won.

Don`t be so down on them as nobody can really compete with the likes of the US and China due to their sheer size .

79 countries won a least one medal, out of the over 200 countries that participated. I think any country that earned any medal should be congratulated.
