I have perfect vision, but my eyes hurt and words sometimes blur when I use the computer or watch TV?

Does anyone know why this happens? Should I buy glasses to wear when I watch TV or use the computer? If so, what type?

Also, I get headaches semi-frequently when I use the computer. I think this is because I have to focus on words more than I would on say, a book, so it results in headaches - but I don't know.

Any help is appreciated!

Update:

The brightness on my screen is not an issue. I always keep the brightness very low - for my eyes, and to preserve my computers battery life.

Additionally, I have tried making the fonts bigger (and smaller) on the computer, but words still run together and causes strain on my eyes.

Update 2:

@David - Thank you! I guess what I meant by "perfect vision" is that when I have standard eye exams I always have 20/10 vision. But clearly there IS in fact something wrong. I'm thinking astigmatism?

You don't have perfect vision. You have a real vision problem. You are probably far sighted or presbyopic although there are a number of other problems that could cause the symptoms you are experiencing. Get an eye exam.

I am the same way with computers, and one thing I noticed is that it's a lot worse when there is something moving on the screen. Your mind tries to focus on the words as well as any motion. Sometimes another cause is the color of the words and background. While books have cream colored pages and brown-ish lettering, computer screens have stark white backgrounds(for the most part) and solid black lettering. However, I have yet to find an option on my laptop that allows you to change letters and backgrounds.

    Hope this helps!

You been watching the tv too long and using the computer too long. Take a rest.

You could try and lower the brightness on your screen.
