Help with Physics Homework Please!!!?
I'm trying to do my physics homework and I am so confused. I can"t even tell what the question is asking! If you anyone could help me I would really appreciate it. Here's the question:
3. Assuming each of the numbers in problem 2 is a distance in meters, express each measurement using the closest appropriate metric prefix.
What does that mean? I think i"m supposed to convert them but convert them to what?
Here are some of the measurements given:
A .98.1m
B. 67000m
C. .000311m
D. .00005m
E. 4270m
If anyone knows how to do this can you show me an example and how to do it I would really appreciate it! I know how to convert. I just don"t understand the closest appropriate prefix part.

This does seem like a silly question, but I think the teacher wants you to understand other metric prefixes. Meter is the SI unit, but you can have variations:
*kilometer is 1000 meters
*centimeter is 1/100 meter
*millimeter is 1/1000 meter
So, for A, 0.98m would probably be best left as is. It would also be expressed as 9.8 decimeters, but most people don't use that.
B) 67000 meters has a lot of zeros, so it is better written as 67 kilometers (there are 67 THOUSAND meters, so there are 67 kilometers)
C and D are best expressed in millimeters.
C) 0.311 millimeters
D) 0.05 millimeters
E) 4.27 kilometers

The Physics communicate board, as at the instant constituted, is lots extra constructive than the Astronomy and area communicate board. A&S has a tendency to be surprisingly gentle. a great style of i. grade college homework, ii. hoaxes (2012 stuff), and iii. trolls finding for interest. even however homework help is annoying, a minimum of that's severe. you may time-honored self-filter out to locate questions that supply somewhat project and a questioner who's appreciative. there has been talk among the aficionados of growing to be a severe Physics and Math communicate board. however the final consensus became that it would nevertheless be comprehensive of homework questions and unsolicited mail trolls, and Y!A does not be prepared on the assumption because of the fact what Y!A needs is site visitors.
