Camera/Video camera buying help?

Okay, so ive been trudging through amazon.co.uk looking for a good video camera, but i also want a camera thats good with taking pictures, now i can see that there are a lot of different ones, but i wanted to know, whats the difference between video cameras that can take pictures, like the sony handycam cx190 and cameras that can record video like the sony cyber-shot hx10/wx10. it seems that the cyber-shots have much better pixels but they still boast to record 1080i/1080p wheras the handicam can record 1080p/1080i but can only take pictures at 5.3 mega pixels, now they are generally around the same price range, and i just wanted to know what the hell is the difference, Would the handycam have a better mic?
